Phu Ruea National Park covers the area of Phu Ruea District and Thali District in Loei Province. The reason why it is called Phu Ruea is because there is overhanging rock on the cliff that resembles the shape of a sail boat with the plain on top of the mountain comparable to the ship’s hull. The top of Phu Ruea is 1,365 meters above the Mean Sea Level. To travel to Phu Ruea National Park, it is about 48 kilometers from Loei Province. Travellimg along Highway No. 203 to Phu Ruea District, there will be a National Park sign at the top of the entrance road beside Phu Ruea District Office (Coming from Loei Province, the sign will be on the right. Coming from Phetchabun Province, the sign will be on the left.). From the top of the entrance road, travel further for about 4 kilometers to reach the National Park Office. The roads in the park are paved roads on the mountain with some steep parts. Please drive carefully and use low gear otherwise the brakes could burn. For public transport from Bangkok, you can take a bus from Mo Chit Bus Terminal. There are bus services from several companies that come to the morning market near Phu Ruea. From here, you can hire a minibus to reach your destination.
